Product photography is combination of good lighting and good preparation. I take the time to research what the product does, and more importantly, the value that the product delivers to the end customer. Good preparation includes decluttering the background, having logos in view, and in the case of shiny metal objects, removing all fingerprints. Many of my product photos are taken on white or black backgrounds to properly highlight product features. In most cases, I remove the background from the product image in Photoshop allowing the photos to be placed on any website background, and be similarly used on PowerPoint presentations, articles, white papers, and even technical manuals.
